Happy DNA Day (and Future of Medicine Day)!

April is an exciting month for us here at Orig3n as we get to celebrate two holidays — DNA Day on April 25th and Future of Medicine Day on April 26th! While you’re probably familiar with what DNA is, you may be wondering what ‘DNA Day’ and ‘Future of Medicine Day’ are all about. Let us explain.

 

What is DNA Day?

Organized by the National Human Genome Research Institute, DNA Day is a worldwide celebration of the completion of the Human Genome Project in 2003, and the discovery of the double helix by James Watson, Francis Crick, and their colleagues in 1953.

In short: DNA Day is a tribute to the numerous scientific and genetic advances that have been made possible as a result of its discovery and is a day dedicated to passing this knowledge on to people around the world.

 

In addition to DNA Day, Orig3n also celebrates Future of Medicine Day.

Falling only one day after DNA Day, on April 26th, Future of Medicine Day was created in 2016 by Boston Mayor, Martin J. Walsh. The day is recognized in the city of Boston to acknowledge Orig3n’s leading research into regenerative medicine and our unique ability to make an impact on the health and well-being of people around the world.
